In January of 1944 the United States was preparing for its invasion of France.The editor's father, an aviation student in the United States Army Air Corps, was in his final months of training at North Carolina State College in Raleigh, North Carolina. By early November of that same year, he would return to Europe. But not to Northern Ireland, where his fiancée impatiently awaited his return from her home in Belfast.
