A series of mystic short stories, each with a female protagonist either unknown or derived from legend. The Grey Lady: At Inveraray Castle in Scotland, surrounded by ghost stories, a traveller comes into contact with a tragic fate of the 19th century. The Unicorn: According to medieval legend, a unicorn places its head only in the lap of a virgin. A young girl dares much in order to find out the truth about this myth and about herself. The Desert Rider: A woman returns to the scene of traumatic events in order to come to terms with her past. There she is unexpectedly offered help by an apparently supernatural person. The Lady of Shalott: The medieval myth of Elaine of Ascalot, taken up by Alfred Tennyson in his poem with the same title, is continued, given a new interpretation and a surprise ending.
