Description

Veirstorm is a magical world filled with many mysteries, one of them being Fables. Fables are essentially physical representations of one's spirit animal. No two Fables are alike; they each grow in many unique ways based on their relationship with their partner. The first book of the series is centered around a young boy from the Forest Tribe named Kallik. It's been hundreds of years since The Ancient Ones left Veirstorm, leaving the four Kings to their selfish ambitions. A never-ending conflict between the four tribes (Forest, Mountains, Islands, Flatlands) sparked, and the tribes have been at each other's neck since. The Hierarchy of each tribe has since been overthrown, but their replacements haven't changed the culture. The four tribes are continually challenging each other. However, no one seems to remember the reason why they hate each other. They just do. Two weeks out from his trial (a Forest Tribe tradition) and the only thing Kallik is sure of is that he isn't ready. It's the moment all the forest children look forward to, meeting their Fable for the first time while growing up. Kallik just hopes that he and his Fable can live up to their family's legacy. His dad and his Fable Khounji were legendary Koake (the sport everyone in Veirstorm is obsessed with) players; they were also fearless warriors, now retired from playing and fighting. However, they haven't stopped working. They are widely respected for making the best weapons in all of Veirstorm. Khounji resembles an 800-pound saber tooth grizzly bear. The trials take place during the winter solstice in the forest behind the school. Each student is sent out into the forest alone to find their Fable. Kallik will have to face his worst fear while on his trial, The Fallen. Not much is known to the people of Veirstorm about Fable's or why they appeared to the tribesman hundreds of years ago; many believe that they are physical representations of their spirit animals. Except, they are very different from animals. Fables are continually evolving based on their relationship with their partner. They grow distinct features and attributes that exclusively belong to them alone. No two Fables are the same. The truth is the four Ancient Ones blessed the land of Veirstorms with Fables when they vanished. Fables aren't just spirit animals to be treated as pets, but they are the missing part of the person's soul. Their life forces are intertwined, and the stronger their relationship, the stronger they areKallik believes that his trial will be the adventure of a lifetime; he knows he will have to face his worst fear and fight The Fallen while in the forest. But he isn't prepared for what is about to happen. Another war is looming. It could be all up to him and his Fable to step into their calling and unite the tribes for the first time in over 800 years.
