This autobiographical book speaks directly to a group of minority speech-language pathologists or SLP students looking for a sense of belonging in their field of choice. As an adult immigrant, Barbara Fernandes faced mountains of obstacles to become a speech-language pathologist. In this inspirational book, Barbara speaks directly to her other minority colleagues, sharing her journey with mastering English, facing isolation, microagressions, and her own internal battles going on to become a successful entrepreneur in the field. Barbara' struggles was shared by many of her other Black and Brown, Latinx, Asian and immigrants colleagues, whose stories are also shared on this book with hopes to spark a light into other minority SLPs to feel less lonely, seek unity, find what drives them and thrive. This is a book without references, it is a book to inspire.
