Description

Detective Emerson Moore, on maternity leave and caring for her newborn daughter, feels like life has finally settled into place. After her husband is offered his dream job as deputy chief in the town he grew up in, he convinces Emerson that it’s the perfect place to start their family. They move from the city, buying the home of their dreams in the suburbs. But when her husband dies in a tragic car accident soon after their arrival, Emerson is devastated and forced to reevaluate her life. She must find work again and decides to join the local force while she contemplates if she will eventually sell the house. As she starts to pick up the pieces of her shattered life, Emerson starts to feel like she has a plan in place. But when a woman shows up at her back door in the middle of the night, frantic and bleeding, Emerson’s life changes once again in an instant. She invites her in, but the woman is too frantic to tell her what happened. But when Emerson tries to assure her that she’s in good hands, explaining her connection to the police department, and then leaves the room to call the chief, she comes back to find the woman is gone. All that’s left behind is a note that says your husband was not who he said he was. Shaken to her core, Emerson, now on the force, is determined to find the missing woman but is unable to tell anyone about the letter she left behind. As her mind spirals, and as she digs up an old case that bears striking similarities to the woman that vanished, she begins to question everything. Why did they move back here? And who else in this tight-knit community isn’t telling the truth?
